Update: Steroids, The Model, The Dealer and Murder

Police still insist that steroid dealer and NFL snitch David Jacobs shot and killed his girlfriend Amanda Earhart Savell before turning the gun on himself.  The Jacobs family still believes it was a hit man that killed the two.  I don’t know what to believe… who shoots themselves in the stomach then the head when trying to commit suicide?

Of all the stories I have covered, this one gets the most traffic on Grant’s Rant.  Everyday someone is searching for more information about the crime that shocked Plano and the fitness world.

There are rumblings inside the North Texas legal world that the Savell family is looking to file a wrongful death suit against not just the Jacobs estate, but also the makers of the Chinese steroids that were found inside the Jacobs home.  The claim, sources say, is that the steroids put Jacobs into a rage that ultimately caused him to kill Amanda Savell.

I do believe steroids have the ability to send someone into a “roid rage”, but I don’t think they have the ability to “make” someone kill.  Thousands of people use steroids everyday and thousands, yet those people are not going around shooting their loved ones.  By all accounts David Jacobs was jealous, depressed, and controlling.  Steroids may have exacerbated his problems, but only he caused them.

Terrell Owens Now on the “Watch List”

Terrell Owens has been quiet as a church mouse this summer.  No controversy, no outrageous claims, no trouble making, no nothing.  That is until he missed a very important phone call, from the NFL. 

How did he miss that call?

Maybe T.O. was at Yoga class with the phone turned off when the NFL called.  Maybe the ‘212′ number looked very similar to Bill Parcels new cell phone.  Maybe he thought the NFL was calling to see if he could volunteer for a United Way commercial.  It turns out the NFL was calling to schedule a random drug test. 

T.O. missed that test and is now on the NFL’s “reasonable cause” drug testing program.  The big question is: why did T.O. miss that test?  He says the NFL had agent Drerw Rosenhaus’s number and his agent never gave him the message.  But in a word with Texting, Instant Messaging, cell phones, I-Phones, Blackberries, the list goes on, how do you not get the message.  That leaves one last question: Did T.O. miss the test on purpose?

T.O. does have the body of a sculpted Greek statue, he runs faster then the road runner and he does have some emotional ups and downs.  (Remember, “That’s my quarterback man. sniffle sniffle.”)  But I have never seen him show any rage.  My gut tells me T.O. is NOT using any performance enhancing drugs, but he’s not using common sense either.  Next time the NFL calls, just answer the phone!

Steroids – Bad Results, Even Murder

There is no argument that steroids work.  Baseball players can hit the ball further.  Football players can hit their opponent harder.  Track stars can run faster.  And body builders can lift more and grow more.

But is the end result worth it?  Take a look at the TWO Amanda Earhart Savells:

 

In my humble opinion Amanda the cover girl wins over Amanda the Bodybuilder.  Why would anyone want to transform them self into a what looks more like a muscle monster then a model?  Amanda Savell was gorgeous before she hopped aboard the David Jacobs steroid train.  And look what it got her.

My goal in writing this post is not to disrespect Amanda Savell but to make public her mistakes so others can learn from them.  Clearly, her My Space Page shows that Amanda was an inspiration to so many.  Let her death inspire others to stay away from the world of steroids and bad men.

If the police are right, David Jacobs killed the one time cover girl, mostly likely in a jealous rage brought on by steroids.  Police found numerous vials of steroids in his house, and by all accounts he and Amanda were still using. 

I played college football (Division III) but even at tiny Denison University some players were on the “Juice.”  I saw first hand what it did to them.  Those players were not only constantly pimple faced, but they were also always angry.  The bottom line, steroids are bad news.  In the end, they can kill, and apparently the people using them can kill as well.

The Model and the Dealer – Murder/Suicide or Conspiracy?

Just days after steroid snitch David Jacobs and fitness cover girl Amanda Earhart Savell were found dead, shot to death in Jacobs Plano home, conspiracy theories are starting to swirl.  It now looks like murder suicide will be the official cause of death.  Jacobs shooting Savell, possibly in a jealous rage, who knows, they left no note. 

Police found 10 shell casings but only 6 bullets.  Savell had been shot multiple times, Jacobs shot once in the stomach and once in the head.  It is fair to raise the question, who shots them self in the stomach when trying to commit suicide?

A Grant’s Rant reader sent me the link to this message board.  It is very interesting reading.  There is no doubt that questions still remain and much of the crime still doesn’t add up.  I am eager to see the official cause of Amanda Savell’s death.

Did the Steroid Dealer Kill Her?

 

Newsmen aren’t supposed to speculate, but bloggers are!  And Grant’s Rant is a blog.  So the big question is: Was the crime in Plano, where police found a steroid dealer and a fitness champion both shot dead, a murder – suicide?  As of 10pm Thursday police are not saying.

My thought as a reporter is, if it was a murder-suicide police would say so right away.  In this case, they did not.  Plano Police all know that David Jacobs was a key figure in both a federal steroid case and the NFL investigation.  Jacobs said he provided two NFL players steroids, including a former Cowboy.  Those players allegedly then went and distributed the drugs to other NFL players.  It’s no secret Jacobs was expected to continue his cooperation with investigators.  That leaves the next question: Was this crime a hit?

My gut tells me, it must be murder-suicide because that’s what it usually is.  We know Jacobs had an on again off again romance with Amanda Earhart Savell.  One of Jacobs friends told me there is no way he is capable of murder, but then again, that’s what most murderers friends say.  That fact is, we will not know for sure what happened until the medical examiner rules on cause of death.  That ruling could come as early as Friday morning.

Clearly Amanda Savell was an inspiration to so many fitness fanatics.  To her fans, her images will live forever on the covers and pages of so many fitness magazines.  I am eager to know if the next picture to appear on this blog associated with this story will be a mug shot of her killer, or if the killers picture is already being shown.
