Mavericks Shan Foster Takes on Usher

June 29, 2008

The Mavericks NBA draft pick Shane Foster doesn’t just shoot ”the three” lights out… It turns out, he can fly through the lane like a bird… and sing like one too!  The SEC Player of the Year has been dubbed, the NBA’s Usher Look alike!  You decide…

Personally I prefer Shan Foster behind the mike much more then Usher.  Check out Shan’s “Draft Day” song written and recorded by the rookie guard from what looks like his dorm room.

I have a good feeling about the rookie Maverick.  I just hope he’s tough on the court,  because the Mavs need some toughness infused into the team that has the ability to play like pansies.

Dirk Nowitzki has an American Girlfriend!

May 29, 2008

Head to any Mavericks game and you will see dozens of young women in the stands holding up “Dirk will you marry me?” signs.  There is now evidence the big man may actually be interested in  American Chicks.  I first saw news that Dirk has taken a babe on the Front Burner Blog.  They quoted the news first reported in the German newspaper Bild.  I can’t read German and I’m not really sure what it says but it appears to be a question and answer segment with All-Star Center about his new American love.

Here is the Text:

BILD: Sie haben seit kurzem eine Freundin, eine Amerikanerin…

Nowitzki: Stimmt, aber darüber rede ich nicht gern. Nur soviel: Es ist alles noch sehr frisch, ich kann noch nicht sagen, was draus wird. Wir werden uns wahrscheinlich erst in ein paar Monaten wieder sehen, wenn ich nach Dallas zurückkomme.“

I tried to translate the above German text myself:

Bild: Yes, you have been seen kur-ousing with woman, an American!

Nowitzki: Stymie that talk.  My derriere is red and itchy from her germs.

I couldn’t figure out the rest, but I think it has something to do with a “weird” situation, a warden, his lawyer and making “Par” in Montana.  He ends with saying how he would rather be with women in Zurich than Dallas.

The Stars Can Be Proud - The Mavericks Can’t

May 20, 2008

The Dallas Stars played with determination and drive.  They still lost.  The fact is the Dallas Stars were outmatched.  The Detroit Red Wings were just to good for Dallas.  In the end, there was no way the Stars could beat such a talented team, even though they did a hell of a job trying.

This differs from the Mavericks.  The Stars were outmatched, the Mavs were outplayed.  On paper the Mavericks had the best team.  They should have gone the distance.  Instead they underachieved, while the Stars overachieved.

Hats off the to the Dallas Stars, who went further than I ever expected.  The Mavericks still need to do some serious work before gaining my respect again.

The Mavericks Are Misfits

April 28, 2008

So the man who was supposed to win us a championship “this year” gets ejected!  Jerry Stackhouse and the rest of the crew can’t make a shot.  Only Dirk and The Jet showed any signs of playing like they were supposed to last night.  Bottom line, the Mavs have reached the depths of being pathetic.  I am disgusted when watching them.

After all the hype of the game three win against the Hornets, we get to watch a romp last night.  We really only have to look to game three to realize why the Mavs got blown out.  In game 3 they got lucky.  Yes, I said LUCKY!  In game 3 all the Mavs shots were falling, while the Hornets couldn’t buy a bucket.

Game 4, back to reality.  The Mavs don’t shoot well, the Hornets make shots when they have to.  In the third quater when the Mavericks cut the lead to 5, I thought this may be the start of something.  30 seconds later, I was about to shut the TV off.

I have said it time and time again, the Mavericks play like a bunch of school girls and I blame Avery Johnson.  There is no way this team wins three in a row.  And as the old saying goes, “If you can’t win three in row, Avery must go.”

Why The Mavericks May Not Show Up For Playoff Basketball

April 17, 2008
  1. Dirk will be getting his hair washed.
  2. Eddie Jones forgot to stop running away from a poker game that just got robbed.
  3.  Josh Howard has an appointment at Apple Orthodontics.  (After failing to win an NBA Title, hes still looking for “The smile of his life”)
  4. The Trainer forgot to pack Jason Terry’s headbands, he refuses to play with out them.
  5. Jason Kidd is still celebrating his 100th Triple Double, no one told him the team bus was leaving.
  6. Jerry Stackhouse re-injures his groin after a last minute trip to one of those places off Northwest Highway.
  7. Eric Dampier is still at Parkland as Doctors try to chip away the cement that coats his hands.
  8. No one can find Devon Harris, oh wait, he doesn’t play here anymore.
  9. Brandon Bass is in the Hornets locker room.  He’s from Louisiana and now wants to play for the home team.
  10. Dirk is still washing his hair.  When was the last time he showed up to play in a playoff game anyway?

Did I mention I am still pulling for the Mavericks.  Lets hope they really do show up to play.

I Told You So!

April 5, 2008

I don’t like saying it, but the truth is, I told you so.  The Sports Master, Sam Hale, got very angry about my previous post that called the Mavs a bunch of panzies.  Well last night proved I was right.  They had the Lakers by the throat.  Up 7 going into the 4th quater.  But as they have done time and time again this year, the Mavs let that lead go.

The reason they can’t win these tight games is because the team has no intestinal fortitude, no dig down deep, no we can do it, no the little engine that could.  The Mavericks let Kobe Bryant take over.  Time is winding down sports fans.  It is do or die for this team, what amazes me is it seems like the Mavs don’t realize what dire striaghts they are in.

I still think they will slip into the playoffs, I know they will lose in the first round to whoever they play.

I Must be Dreaming

April 3, 2008

Was it just a dream or did the Mavericks really play like they are capable of playing?  I am convinced it was a dream.  The team I saw last night was not the same team I have been watching all season.  Yes, Dirk was back in uniform, of course that helps, but if this team NEEDS Dirk to get the mental toughness boost they got last night, well then I am now 100% SURE the Mavs really are a bunch of pansies.

Real Pros shouldn’t need their team leader on the floor to play well.  The Mavericks DO!  That means, in my most humble opinion, this team is not ready to play at the highest levels of the NBA.  Lets see what they do against the Lakers friday night.  My guess is they will fold like a cheap suit!

Please note, it makes me sad to say that.  I like this team, they are all nice guys.  But nice guys finish last in the NBA.  What the Mavericks need are a bunch of cocky, thug, former gang bangers willing to initiate a “Texas Beat Down” on thier opponent.  If they don’t want to go out and get some hard nosed players, the Mavs should at try to act the part, at least while on the court.

Mavericks vs Celtics

March 21, 2008

I have nothing to say about last night.  The last 4 minutes says it all.  Why even bother watching the game!?

Avery Needs to Go

March 19, 2008

I was covering the spring storms yesterday and was unable to watch the Mavs vs Lakers game last night.  But from what I understand, that saved me from a world of frustration.  I hear the real washout was inside the AA Center.

The Mavericks, with Jason Kidd, are now 0-6 vs “good” teams.  What’s going on?  When the Mavs made a run to try and catch the Lakers, Kidd wasn’t even on the floor!  This team is now a joke.  Avery went from rising star to the sun has set.  Something needs to change and it needs to change now.

Make no mistake, this team is talented.  That is why I am now doing a complete 180 and blaming head coach Avery Johnson.  Mark Cuban listen up!  Do not let this team become the next New York Knicks of the NBA.  Because the way they are playing that is where this is all headed.  Since “The Loss” to Miami in the NBA Finials, The Mavs have never been the same.  Sadly, the way I see it, since Jason Kidds arrival they are now playing worse then when they had Devon Harris.  I am not saying I told you so, yet.  But if the Mavs don’t win the next two games, albeit tough ones, they may not make the playoffs.

Rolando Blackman, “It takes Time”

March 10, 2008

It took time for Rolando Blackman to set the Mavs All-time leading scorer record.  It took time for Dirk to break it.  Which is what happened Saturday night during the Mavs Romp over the Nets.  Apparently it also takes time to win a championship,  and get great players to work together.  Unfortunatly ”TIME” is what we don’t have.

On a night when Mavs history was made, I had the distinct pleasure of watching it all unfold with Mavs great, now front office man, Rolando Blackman.  First off, he seemed genuinely happy for Dirk.  He did not SEEM genuinely happy with “The Trade,” even though he says he is.

Along with one of the all time greatest Mavs fans, Jay Stine, I spent 5 minutes talking with one of the all time greatest Mavs.

Both Stiney and I expressed our concern with the teams inability to win games.  I asked Rolando it he, and the rest of the front office was concerned too.  “Certainly the Western Conference is tight, there is no doubt we need to start winning now,” said Blackman, insisting the Mavs need to win at least 7 of the next 10 games.  He called Jason Kidd, “a leader,” adding it takes time for players to “gel.”  Two minutes later Kidd threw an ali-oop pass to no one.  (He thought Dirk would cut to the basket instead he cut to the corner.)

Basketball Guru Jay Stine summed it up for all Mavs fans this way, “They got to get better now, there is no time to F around.  A first round loss is No Bueno!”  The reality is the Mavs are going to have to fight just to get into the first round.

As for Big Ro, he still insists the trade was best for the team now.  Though I did notice concern written all over his face.  The only way he is proven right is a trip to the Finials, and that looks like a long shot.

Mark my words, some day soon we will really miss Devon Harris.
