Bella Is a High School Grad
Yes, my dog Bella graduated from high school. She even has the diploma to prove it. Arlington’s New Beginnings Christian Academy sent her a 37 page test. I helped her fill it out, along with some help from my boss, her father and my nephew. We passed, or Bella passed, with flying colors.

New Beginnings says its a home school. But we didn’t take any classes and we got a transcript complete with 4 years worth of grades and course work. New Beginnings insists it is there to help the underprivileged get a step up on life. I ask, isn’t that what public school is for. Giving someone a diploma with no education seems to me like its actually holding them down.
The whole thing costs 275 dollars. The point of my story is anyone can get help. Even a dog. No offense to Bella, but maybe her new diploma is really more for the birds.

Check out Bluebonnet Private School in Ft. Worth (http://bluebonnetgrad.tripod.com/). It’s the same thing and my boss’s dog could have her diploma from there. She took the test (we actually answered the multiple choice questions without even reading them) then received an email congratulating her for passing the test. As soon as she sent her $200, they would mail her transcripts and a diploma. The other nice thing about this school is that you can continue to retake the test until you pass- and they give you the correct answers after you finish and then if you retest- you get the same test! What a deal. And to think I spent 4 years going to high school! People who run these programs are taking advantage of very vulnerable students who have struggled in school and just want a diploma. They are not doing them any favors- just taking their money. It’s a shame we can’t run them out of business.

You first said on your news story the test was 38 pages long now you say 37. Which is it? Then you said there are no students at UTA from New Beginnings Christian Academy, well all i can say is that you are a LIAR because i’m about to complete my first year at UTA. Why don’t you use your investigative skills and get your facts strait!

I am a public school teacher. Should I be worried that I may soon be out of a job — seeing as how for $275 a person can get a diploma on their own???? This is appalling. And, CJ, it’s s-t-r-a-i-g-h-t.

Jesus people I am a high school teacher and I deal with the students who are struggling in school everyday. I sent a student to NBCA because this child had a physical problem that required her to study at home. Get with the program I took online courses in college and NEVER stepped foot in the classroom. This young lady is attending a college right here in Texas and doing very well. Jesus PEOPLE IT IS ONLY A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA NOT A BACHELORS OR DOCTORATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this story and could not believe how it was so one sided.
I notice nothing good was told about this organization. I now have lost alot of respect for a reporter that only reports his side of the story. A real reporter does not use a DOG to tell his story and he should tell both sides and let the viewer decide. I guess he could’nt do that or it would not be a story!!!

I actually don’t see what’s so wrong with this whole high school diploma situation. Not everyone is as fortunate as YOU to have a stable life, or parents whom are always there. It’s not easy to go through struggles as a kid and expect a CHILD to make it without the help of at least ONE family member. Some children aren’t that fortunate and it becomes harder to go to school instead they are trying to get a job as soon as possible to feed themselves or younger siblings. If this test helps them get further in life, how is this hurting you? Appreciate what you have in life instead of looking down upon everything. The tests are basic reviews of 9-12th. Sure, they should have this more organized but if you aren’t contributing to making this situation more secure then don’t worry about it. Everyone seems to be taking this too far.

Well, congratulations to all dog lovers. You have given your pets what they deserve. I am wondering on how I can send my kitties to school. maybe I can just make a feline curriculum and prepare it as an eclectic approach similar to preschool task. I have been adopting cats around the neighborhood and make sure that they get the proper vaccinations and nutrients they need. I am an authentic cat lover. I have been taking care of cute and native creatures for almost four decades now.
